Suddenly Everywhere Is Black with People

Suddenly Everywhere Is Black with People

«There is nothing that man fears more than the touch of the unknown» reads the opening sentence of «Crowds and Power» by Elias Canetti. With «Suddenly Everything Is Black with People» the Brazilian choreographer Marcelo Evelin succeeds like no other in turning encounters with the unknown into a tangible experience. Inspired by Canetti’s anthropological essay, he confronts the spectator with an amorphous group of performers painted pitch-black who move through a dimly lit space. An impressive work that stays long in the mind. (esc)
