Aline Corrêa’s performance in «Cicatriz» (Scar) will leave a lasting impression. Her shaved head and her body painted all over with archaic ornaments have the charismatic dancer appear like a gladiatorial yet gentle and vulnerable creature. The Brazilian choreographer and street dance specialist Paulo Azevedo, represented at the 2008 festival with the company Membros, has tailormade this solo for Aline Corrêa. Rarely has dance been so physical, beautiful and cruel. (esc)
