Orchestre tout puissant Marcel Duchamp: with this name the band pays homage to the traditional West African orchestras as well as to the great provocateur and artistic innovator of the 20th century. At first sight, this is a puzzling name for a band but the sextet from Geneva effortlessly succeeds at combining tradition and surrealism, at mixing free jazz, rock ’n’ roll, afro beat, art and folk music to create their own musical style. The French radio station France Inter called them «talentueux urluberlus», talented eccentrics. They are talented indeed and it is a true joy to watch them thrill the audience with humour, verve and energy. (ron)
